Our Core Services
Protect you intellectual property across borders
In today's global economy, intellectual property is one of the most powerful drivers of business value. As markets expand across borders, so does the risk of infringement, unauthorised use, and misappropriation of your IP assets. For any business operating internationally — or intending to — securing IP rights in every relevant jurisdiction is not optional; it is a core commercial priority.
IP rights are territorial by nature. A trademark registered in India does not protect your brand in Europe. A patent granted in the US does not prevent competitors in Asia from copying your invention. Without deliberate, coordinated cross-border protection, your intellectual assets remain exposed.
At Filfox IP, we provide integrated global IP solutions — helping innovators, start-ups, SMEs, and multinationals protect and enforce their intellectual assets worldwide. Our practice is built on a deep understanding of international IP frameworks, including the PCT (158 Contracting States), the Madrid System (115 members covering 131 countries), the Hague System (82 members covering 99 countries), and the Berne Convention (182 members), coordinated through our network of foreign associates across key jurisdictions.

We guide clients through the full spectrum of international patent filing and prosecution, from initial strategy to national phase management.
PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) Filings
A single PCT application filed through WIPO provides a cost-effective pathway to seek patent protection in its 158 Contracting States. The PCT process includes an international search report and optional preliminary examination — giving applicants a strong basis to assess patentability before incurring national phase costs. The international phase extends to 30–31 months from the earliest priority date, providing strategic flexibility on when and where to enter national phases. Importantly, a PCT application does not itself grant a patent — patents are ultimately granted by each national or regional office in what is known as the national phase.
Paris Convention Priority Filings
Under the Paris Convention, a patent application filed in one member country establishes a 12-month priority window during which corresponding applications can be filed in other member countries, claiming the original filing date. This priority right is one of the most strategically important tools in international patent practice. We advise clients on how to structure filings to maximise the Paris Convention priority window while managing costs.
Direct National and Regional Filings
For clients with targeted jurisdiction requirements, we coordinate direct filings in specific countries or through regional patent offices (EPO, ARIPO, OAPI, EAPO). We manage national phase entries, prosecution, office action responses, and grant proceedings through our foreign associate network
Brand protection across borders requires both strategic filing and active management. We provide end-to-end international trademark services, covering registration, prosecution, renewal, and enforcement.
Madrid System Filings (WIPO)
The Madrid System, administered by WIPO, is the most efficient mechanism for securing international trademark protection. A single international application can designate protection across 115 members covering 131 countries, all managed through one centralised system with a single set of renewal deadlines.
Conventional (Direct) Foreign Filings
Where the Madrid System is not available or not optimal for specific jurisdictions or commercial strategies, we coordinate direct country-by-country filings through our foreign associate network. We also conduct global trademark searches to assess risk before filing.
We have expertise in Madrid Protocol filings as well as conventional filing, registrations renewals, and monitoring, We help maintain your brand exclusivity and prevent illegal or unauthorised use internationally.
The visual appearance of your products — shapes, configuration, ornamentation — can be protected across multiple jurisdictions through coordinated design filings.
The Hague System (WIPO)
The Hague System, administered by WIPO, allows a single international design application to cover protection across 82 members representing 99 countries. Unlike the Madrid System for trademarks, the Hague System does not require a prior national design application — applicants can file directly through WIPO. A single application can include up to 100 designs, all managed centrally through WIPO's Hague platform.
We advise clients on whether Hague filings are appropriate for their target markets and coordinate national phase prosecution — including responses to refusals — in designated jurisdictions through our foreign associate network.
Direct National Design Filings
For countries outside the Hague System or where direct filings are strategically preferred, we coordinate applications through our foreign associate network, managing prosecution through to registration.
We regularly assist our clients in filing and securing copyright registrations in India as well as beyond borders.
Our firm provides strategic advice on copyright ownership, authorship, and duration across key jurisdictions.
Managing a global IP portfolio requires ongoing vigilance — across renewals, monitoring, enforcement, and strategic alignment with business objectives.
Our portfolio management services include: centralised tracking of all deadlines and renewals across jurisdictions; watch services to monitor for conflicting marks, competing applications, and unauthorised use; strategic advice on portfolio rationalisation — identifying which rights to maintain, expand, or abandon; lifecycle management from filing through expiry or assignment; and coordination of enforcement action across jurisdictions where infringement is identified.
